Lake House Essentials

by Emily Satzger in

Essentials, we all have them, some more important than others.  When I am away from home there are certain items I must have to make me feel more at home.  For instance, I have to bring almost all my hair products, skincare, makeup/makeup brushes with me on trips(it takes multiple bags friends), I just feel out of sorts if I don't have them.  Yes, I fully understand and accept this odd fact about myself.

So R and I are at his parent's lake house for Labor Day weekend.  It's one of our favorite places to go, a crystal clear glacier lake is hard to beat in the dead of summer.  Check out my "lake house essentials"...

Swimsuit:  Mara Hoffman's prints and colors never disappoint.  This has been my go to suit this summer.  It runs true to size, fyi.

Argan Oil:  Pronounced "ooolll" thank you very much!  I can not survive without this hair product, truly!  I put it on my hair when it's wet, and it doesn't make my hair greasy, but moisturizes it and helps it dry more quickly.  I try and protect my hair when I'm at the lake house, but being in the sun and water all day can take a toll.

Malin and Goetz Lip Balm:  I purchased this lip balm for R this past Christmas and started using his so much I purchased my own.  It forms a coating that stays for quite a while and gives you just the right amount of gloss.  They started making it in flavors, and mojito is  calling my name!

Ray Ban Polarized Sunglasses:  You will see me wearing these sunglasses all the time, they're my all time favorite.  I've had every nice brand you can think of, but these fit me best!  They're foldable so I don't have to worry about breaking them when I throw them in my purse.  More importantly they're polarized, which makes the BIGGEST difference!

Revenge Wears Prada:  I must admit I have been horrible in recent years when it comes to reading.  I am striving to begin reading on a much more regular basis. I enjoy Lauren Weisberger's writing, it makes for light and easy summer reading.  The Devil Wears Prada is one of my all time favs, so I thought I would finally join the rest of the world and read the sequel.  So far it's wonderful, now lets convince Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep to make a movie!

September's Vogue:  Do I even need to tell you why this is an essential...I hope not!

Skinnygirl Margarita:  I know it's a hate or love relationship for most, but I have always loved this pre-mixed margarita.  One, I truly love margaritas, they aren't too sweet and you can still taste the tequila(in a good one at least) which to me makes for the perfect drink.  This mix does exactly that for me, I have been know to add a little Patron to the mix from time to time.
